She was April 12, 1916, in Midland, in to a pioneer West Texas ranching family, grew up in Odessa, after graduating from Odessa High School, attended CIA, now Texas Womans University in Denton, joined the United States Navy as a WAVE and served honorably at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station during World War II, following her navy service she worked briefly in Pennsylvania; then she returned home to Odessa to work for the Ector County School System.
